For Photographers

Pitch an editorial, apply as a contributing photographer, or join the G&A editorial roster.

Editorial work powered by APOV Visual Artist via our publishing studio. Capturing alternative fashion since 2012. Sister project: IrisArtPhoto.

Gothic and Amazing has been built on photography since 2014. This page is for the photographers who want to contribute — whether you have one editorial to pitch or want to become a regular contributor to the magazine.

What we publish

We publish editorial and conceptual photography that fits the dark-but-beautiful register of the magazine. That includes studio fashion editorials, outdoor location shoots in atmospheric settings, portrait series, designer-driven campaigns, behind-the-scenes documentation, and fine-art work bordering on gothic surrealism. We do not publish horror, gore, pornographic or hateful imagery.

Editorial standards

Every editorial we publish credits every contributor: model, photographer, designer, make-up artist, hair stylist, accessories, location when relevant. We expect submissions to follow the same rule — your credits sheet should be complete before you send the editorial. Image rights stay with you; we ask only for a non-exclusive editorial-use licence covering the magazine and the website.

Apply

Editorial pitches and photographer applications go through submit.gothicandamazing.com. For each track, send a portfolio of 8-15 representative images, plus a one-paragraph biography.

If you would like to look at the work of our official photographer for reference, APOV Visual Artist publishes professionally through our publisher's studio and through the iris-photography concept irisartphoto.fr.

Frequently asked questions

Do I keep the rights to my photographs?

Yes. You retain full ownership. We ask only for a non-exclusive editorial-use licence covering the magazine and the website, with credit to every contributor.

Can I submit film photography?

Yes. We have published film and digital work side-by-side since the magazine started. The medium is less important than the editorial register.

How quickly do you respond to photographer applications?

Most photographer applications are reviewed within two to four weeks. Applications during issue-production peaks may take a little longer.

Can I republish an editorial on my own site?

Yes — you retain the rights. Cross-publication is welcome, and we appreciate a backlink to the G&A version when you do.
