Gothic and Amazing — black rose logo Gothic & Amazing

For Alternative Models

Apply to be featured, build your alternative portfolio, or become a labelled G&A Model.

Editorial work powered by APOV Visual Artist via our publishing studio. Capturing alternative fashion since 2012. Sister project: IrisArtPhoto.

If you model alternative, gothic, romantic, witchy, fairy or dark academia aesthetics, Gothic and Amazing has been a launchpad for your peers since 2014. This page walks you through how to apply, what we expect, and what happens once you are featured.

What we look for

We look for personality first, technical skill second. Body type, age (18+), gender expression and ethnic background are not gating factors. We have featured cisgender, transgender, non-binary, plus-size, mature and male alternative models. What we need to see in a portfolio: a coherent register (you know what you wear well), a few well-lit images that show your range, and an attitude that fits the dark-but-beautiful editorial line of G&A.

How to apply

Free application vs labelled G&A Model

The basic application is free and gets your portfolio reviewed for upcoming editorials. The 'labelled G&A Model' status is a separate track with a small processing fee — it gives you priority for upcoming features, a dedicated profile page on the magazine when applicable, and the ability to use the G&A Model badge in your own portfolio. Both tracks live on the same submissions portal, you choose at the moment of application.

Beyond the editorial

If you also want portrait sessions for your own portfolio in the same visual register, our publisher offers personal photography services on our editorial photography partner. APOV Visual Artist (our official photographer since 2017) regularly works with alternative models for both editorial and personal portfolio work.

Frequently asked questions

Is there an age requirement to model for Gothic and Amazing?

Yes. Models must be eighteen or older to be featured in editorial work and in the printed magazine.

Do I need professional modelling experience?

No. We have featured complete first-timers alongside internationally established alternative models. What we look for is fit with the editorial register and presence on camera.

Can I apply as a male or non-binary alternative model?

Yes. We feature models across the gender spectrum. Inclusivity is part of the editorial line, not an exception.

What does the labelled G&A Model badge get me?

Priority for upcoming editorials, a dedicated profile page when applicable, and the right to use the G&A Model badge in your own portfolio. It is a separate paid track from the free basic application.

Do you cover travel for shoots?

Most collaborative shoots are organised in locations our official photographer can reach. For very specific brand campaigns, travel arrangements are discussed case-by-case with the brand.
